#SPLOSTWATCH – STOP Wasteful Government Spending

We must stop unneeded collection and spending of taxes. Few actions of the citizen are more important than taking an active interest in the way government is spending your money. No clearer indicator of the problem is needed than the approach of the $18 trillion dollar threshold for national debt.

In Georgia, State legislators have provided a convenient method for local government to levy sales tax on each purchase you make using the Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax (SPLOST). This device has the potential for abuse as overweening bureaucrats strive to ensure they fill the coffers from which they are paid by all means available. So using their best sales people they will be out busily selling you on whatever pet project they believe they can slip past an unwary public.

DecidingTheVote invites all Georgians concerned about the overreach of local and regional government to post your concerns via Twitter by using the index #SPLOSTWATCH, or by e-mailing us a post request for the DecidingTheVote.com website for consideration by the editors at: james@jamesstrawn.com.

The SPLOST project review for Cobb County, Georgia will be held in July. Public comment reviews for Cobb County’s 2016 SPLOST (TAX) will be held in the various Districts, and then on a county wide basis. Concerned taxpayers should make plans to attend these meetings to ensure you agree with how your hard earned money will be spent by County government.
